Caryl Churchill is the award-winning, political, and sometimes controversial, writer of Fen, Top Girls, Cloud 9 and Vinegar Tom and the subject of this year Master Playwright Fest. An enigmatic figure, Caryl Churchill shuns the spotlight and doesn’t do interviews. So the best way to get to know this British playwright is through the festival’s plays and readings and the Churchill Unbound lecture series.
Tara Player’s ChurchillFest production is “A Number”. This is a tragedy but one that will leave you as much thoughtful as tearful. How would you feel to find out that you were a clone and not the original son? How might the original feel? How does a guilt-ridden father deal with the two? Enjoy an intimate theatre with a pint of Guinness before, after or during the show.
